Here are ten reasons that you should adopt a dog!

There are two types of people in the world: those that have a loving dog in their family, and those that should! Okay, okay. There are people out there that don’t have space in their homes or the time needed to devote to a dog, and they should probably hold off on adopting a pet.

But for those of you that do have the time and space, but are potentially on the fence, what are you waiting for? October is the American Humane Society’s Adopt-a-Dog Month, so there’s never been a better time.

It is not just the right thing to do; adoption is a reward.
Thinking of adding a dog to your family?

Here are ten reasons to adopt a dog:

1- Because you will save life.
Each year, it is estimated that more than a million dogs and cats that are adopted in the United States are discarded, simply because many pets come in shelters and very few people consider adopting when looking for a pet.

The number of dead animals can be greatly reduced if more people adopt pets instead of buying them. When you adopt, you are saving a loving animal by making it part of your family and opening up shelter space for another animal that might be in desperate need.

2- Because you will get a great animal.
Animal shelters and rescue groups are filled with happy and healthy pets waiting for someone to take them home. Most pets closed the shelter there because of a humanitarian problem such as movement or divorce, not because the animals made a mistake. Many are already trained in homes and used to living with their families.

3-Because it will cost you less.
Usually, when you adopt a pet, the cost of sterilization/castration, first vaccinations (and sometimes microchips!) Is included in the adoption price, which may save you some initial costs for adding a new member to your family. Depending on the animal, you can also save on home storming and training expenses.

4- Because of bragging rights.
No one needs to see another selfie unless it’s a selfie of you with the cool pets that you just adopted! Build a pet, spread these pictures and leave the good-earned likes.

5- Because it is one way to fight puppy factories.
If you bought a dog from a pet store, an online seller or a flea market, you will definitely get a dog from a puppy mill.

Puppy mills are factory-style breeding facilities that place a profit above the luxury of dogs. Animals from Puppy Mills are in badly shocking conditions with improper medical care and are often very sick and behaviorally disturbed as a result. Mothers of these puppies are kept in cages for over and over breeding for years, without human companionship and with little hope of joining the family. And after it is no longer profitable, breed dogs are simply neglected – they are either killed, abandoned, or sold at auction.

These puppy mills continue to operate through misleading tactics – their customers are the reassuring consumers who shop at pet stores, online or through classified ads. Puppy factories will continue to work until people stop supporting them. By adopting a pet, you can be sure that you don’t give them a dime.

6- Because your home will thank you.
Many pets from shelters and rescue are already studied at home, which means that you not only save a pet’s life but maybe even your carpet. Adopting a mature pet not only gives older animals a second chance, but it often means that introducing them to your family will be much easier.

7- Because all pets are good for your health, but embrace offer an additional boost.
Animals not only give you unconditional love, but they have also proven to be psychologically, emotionally, and physically beneficial to their owners. Pet care can provide a sense of purpose and fulfillment and reduce feelings of loneliness. Upon adoption, you can feel proud to help a needy animal!

8-Because adoption only helps more than one animal.
Overburdened shelters receive millions of stray, abusive and lost animals every year, and by adopting an animal, you give way to others. Not only are you giving more animals a second chance, but the cost of adopting you goes directly towards helping these shelters take better care of the animals they take!

9- Because the Pet Shelter Project makes it easy.
You can go to Shelter Pet Project to find pets near you, of every size, color, mood, and breed. Both authentic and mixed breed animals are waiting for their homes forever!

10- Because you will change the animal world homeless.
And get a new best friend from the deal. Seriously, what could be better than that?
